Here are those verses 14 thru 21 in Eph 3……..
For this reason I bow to my knees before the Father
from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.
I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches
of His glory, to be strengthened with power through
His Spirit in the inner man, and that the Messiah may dwell in your
hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly
established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the
length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know the Messiah’s love
that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think—–
according to the power that works in you—–to Him be glory in the church and in
Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. AMEN!
Memorial Day Ponderings
It is a day we pause to think
about a chain formed link by link
that binds us to the liberties
that God desires for all.
It is a day for looking back
at how the mourners dreaded black
maintains the colors that we love…
the red, the white and blue.
In cemeteries far and near
small flags at grave sites make it clear
that freedom’s price was freely paid
by those who spent their lives.
And so on this Memorial Day
we place a wreath and humbly pray
that these who died courageously
will not have died in vain.

The Story of the Four Immortal Chaplains
A convoy of three ships and three escorting Coast Guard cutters passed through “torpedo alley” some 100 miles off the coast of Greenland at about 1 a.m. on February 3, 1943. The submarine U-223 fired three torpedoes, one of which hit the midsection of the Dorchester, a U.S. Army troopship with more than 900 men on board. Ammonia and oil were everywhere in the fast-sinking vessel and upon the freezing sea. |

The four Chaplains on board, two Protestant pastors, a Catholic priest and a Jewish rabbi, were among the first on deck, calming the men and handing out life jackets. When they ran out, they took off their own and placed them on waiting soldiers without regard to faith or race. Approximately 18 minutes from the explosion, the ship went down. They were the last to be seen by witnesses; they were standing arm-in-arm on the hull of the ship, each praying in his own way for the care of the men. Almost 700 died, making it the third largest loss at sea of its kind for the United States during World War II. The Coast Guard Cutter Tampa was able toescort the other freighters to Greenland. Meanwhile the cutters Comanche and Escanaba, disobeying orders to continue the search for the German U-Boat, stopped to rescue 230 men from the frigid waters that night. |

The four Chaplains were Father John Washington (Catholic), Reverend Clark Poling (Dutch Reformed), Rabbi Alexander Goode (Jewish) and Rev. George Fox (Methodist). These four Chaplains were later honored by the Congress and Presidents. They were recognized for their selfless acts of courage, compassion and faith. According to the First Sergeant on the ship, “They were always together, they carried their faith together.” They demonstrated throughout the voyage and in their last moments, interfaith compassion in their relationship with the men and with each other. In 1960 Congress created a special Congressional Medal of Valor, never to be repeated again, and gave it to the next of kin of the “Immortal Chaplains.” |

From John Green, who is from Houston, Minn., and was an All-America basketball guard for legendary UCLA coach John Wooden, on Killebrew: “I never thought I would know another man who lived up to the greatness of coach Wooden, away from the sports they excelled in. However, Harmon is right up there with Coach.”
The Wall Street Journal, remembering Killebrew, said Killebrew “was known to turn to an umpire on a close called strike and say ‘good call.’ ”
PRAISE GOD for the life of Harmon Killebrew..let us all learn from him……..

PS…I talked with SE Coleman yesterday, Missionary, who is based here in Albuquerque, her Aunt is still missing. Her Aunt was seen being taken away in a pick-up after the Tornado in Joplin, but now they cannot locate her. At last report there were just over 200 missing. Please keep this in your prayers…..I feel the heartbreak ….let us all feel the heartbreak of others and not speed past all these tragedies…….let us be in constant prayer……
I feel the heartbreak of Randy Thom who lost his job because the Fed’s found his prison record……How do people like Randy ever get back into this society? Randy has repented, served his time, been baptized…….No wonder about 75% of people released from prison, go right back…….Last night on NM News and Views I talked with Fmr Congressman/Pastor Bill Redmond on this, Bill works with Chuck Colson and Focus on the Family…..we are Biblically off on how we as a society are treating this situation with people like Randy.
Please continue to pray for Sharon’s Mom, Betty, she still is in the Hospital. Thank you!
PRAISE NOTE: Son Lar’s got a job! Part time Computer Tech at his School, Columbia in Chicago!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!
