My Dear Friends, Your prayers mean so much to Natalie Garza the Mother of Nick Garza. I talked to her yesterday and she is going to be with us on New Mexico News and Views this coming Monday at 4:30. She wants to talk to YOU! She wants to thank you all for your prayers and just talk to you from her heart. She is living in Middlebury, Vermont right now as she searches everyday for her son. Please continue to pray for the Garza family,.

A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.'


The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.'


Again the child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.'


'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to yo u?' God said, 'Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.'

Wow, today is Lars last day of High School! I cannot believe it! Time flies! What memories..and memories to build! I am going to have lunch with him today after school to celebrate! Steph also graduates from New Mexico State this week! There is something about the last child graduating from high school that really hits you! Gretchen will be a senior at the University of New Mexico next year and Michael will be a Junior at New Mexico State. Greg continues his excellent career as a chef in Santa Fe! Wow, we are very thankful for our kids.They all have as my Dad used to say, "A good head on their shoulders!"

 Please pray for the Nick Garza family. You might remember that Nick has been missing for months. He was attending college in Middlebury, Vermont. He graduated from Academy here in the Duke City. This will be an awful tough Mother's Day for Nick's Mom, Natalie. Also for all the Mother's who have lost sons and daughters in the war.
 
Please pray for the Kevin Jackson family. Kevin was once a Christian leader in our area and has gone down the wrong road. He now is in jail in Pennsylvania. Please pray for Kevin's wife, Katherine and the children.
 
 
Hi Dewey:
     I'd sure be grateful if you could add Dean Junk and his wife Renee to the prayer chain.   They have two children one by the name of Tyler who has cerebal palsy.  They really have their hands full.  Recently, Dean was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had surgery.  Turns out it was cancerous.  They could not remove all of the tumor surgically and he is now undergoing chemo.  I would be grateful if you could add them to your prayer chain.
     My Rene' and I are both doing well.  Had lunch with Lew Olsen yesterday.  He lives in Sioux Falls.  Hope you get a chance to visit Windom sometime.  Would be great to see you.

        Dear Friends, here are some current prayer concerns I hope you can
keep in your hearts over the coming days.

      Myanmar
   Over 22,000 people have lost their lives by a powerful cyclone that
struck western Myanmar on Saturday, 3 May, but there are fears that deaths
could reach 100,000 or more if the relief efforts are hindered.  Hundreds
of thousands lack electricity, shelter and clean drinking water.  Over two
million people may be affected by the cyclone and children are the most
vulnerable and at risk.
   Please pray:
* for a quick and effective relief response with the full cooperation of
the local authorities and that those affected receive food, clean drinking
water, shelter and access to medical care.
* that God guides the leaders of the relief effort and that coordination
between the government, NGOs and other agencies is smooth.
* for the safety of relief workers and their families.
* for God's mercy on this nation and that His Holy Spirit brings comfort,
hope and support amidst the devastation.

   Zimbabwe
* Continue praying for a just and peaceful end to the political and
economic turmoil, and for leadership that can bring about its restoration.
* Please pray that Zimbabweans remain patient, united in prayerful action
and do not resort to violence.

       World Food Crisis
Riots against spiralling food costs in several world capitals call
attention to a severe hunger problem affecting more than 800 million of the
world's poorest people. The President of the World Bank warned that 33
countries are at risk of social unrest because of rising food prices.
* Pray for the effective resolution of this crisis with each of its
contributing factors: 1) Rising fuel prices, 2) Crops used for biofuels, 3)
Rising demands for animal feed, 4) Political turmoil and conflict, 5)
Severe global weather patterns, 6) Poor environmental practices.
* Pray that the Church would be given wisdom on how to respond to this
situation and witness to Christ's love.

Here is our tribute to Mothers........sent in by Karen Rowe.............
 
If you send this to just one person, it should make it all the way around the world by Mother's Day.
 
This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up puke laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here".
 
Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.
 
For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.
 
This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.
 
This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors.
 
And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football , hockey or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see me, Mom?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.
 
This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens.
 
This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand) mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.
 
This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.
 
For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then read it again. "Just one more time."
 
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.
 
This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.
 
This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home -- or even away at college.
 
This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.
 
This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.
 
For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.
 
For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.
 
For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.
 
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful, and now pray they come home safely from a war.
 
What makes a good Mother anyway?
 
Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?
 
Or is it in her heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
 
The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
 
The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home?
 
Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?
 
The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation...
 
And mature mothers learning to let go.
 
For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.
 
Single mothers and married mothers.
 
Mothers with money, mothers without.
 
This is for you all. For all of us.
 
Hang in there. In the end we can only do the best we can. Tell them every day that we love them. And pray.
 
Please pass along to all the Moms in your life.

I'm sorry for such a delayed response.  My computer has been doing some wacky things!  
 
Dewey below are some of my thoughts from Turkey.  I'll write another e-mail in regards to the Physique that you love so much!  I love it to, especially as I get ready for a triathlon!
 
Again, I'm sorry I couldn't get through via phone while I was in Turkey.  I knew I was going to try but didn't know what it was going to be like until I got there.  May our readers have understanding.  Hopefully you can use what I have to share.
 
Myself along with two other women ministers with Yovel Ministries, who were with me in Turkey are going to be on Sandy's program, "Something About Women" today (Thu) and we'll talk about our journey. 
 
I would encourage our KKIM listeners to tune in from 3:30pm - 4:00pm today!
 
It is very hard to recap a journey that was so overwhelmingly, eye-opening and profound!  Dewey, visiting the actual churches in Acts, where Paul visited and taught and who are written about in Chapters two and three in Revelation, was a renewing of the heart, mind and spirit.  What Israel did in teaching me the Old Testament, Turkey did for me in teaching me about the New Testament.  Walking, step by step, the actual Roman Road was surreal.  The majority of the New Testament was written in what is today called Turkey.
 
Dewey, there are nearly 75 million people in Turkey, 99.9% are Muslim with only 3,000 Believers.  It is basically a secular country, with only 10% religious Muslims.  There are more Mosques in Turkey than anywhere else in the world.
 
We traveled from the Aegean Sea, through Marmara Sea and followed the Roman Road from Pergamum, Ephesus,  Laodicea, Smyrna, Philadelphia, Thyatira and Sardis.  We traveled from the North to the South and traversed the plush, green countryside filled with olive trees, strawberry fields, vineyards and fig trees.  The scenery was beautiful in that part of the country.  
 
In Pergamum, is what's called Satan's Seat in Revelation.  When I have more time I can talk about what happened there.
 
Aside from what people believe, Christians are persecuted in Turkey.  They are not allowed to get jobs readily nor exchange money easily.  They meet in small home churches, as it is impossible to have a "mega church" like we've become accustomed to.  I believe we will be forced to go back to the small home churches, for various reasons, as we did in the past.
 
Every person in Turkey must carry and ID, which identifies them as a Muslim, Christian or Jew.  The government and the Muslim terrorist know every Christians name, address and phone number.  Our teacher, who was only 38 years old, had been imprisoned many, many times and beaten for his belief in Y'shua, (Jesus).  We met with his pastor and he had been imprisoned over twenty times and beaten for being Christian.
 
Three of our teachers good friends had just recently been martyred in Turkey for not bowing, like the three boys in the fire in scripture!
 
My question is this ... "Are we truly ready to be persecuted, beaten and even martyred for our beloved?" 
 
If I were to put into one word, this journey, it would be, "Repent!"  I know that's not a popular message, nor one that gives us "warm fuzzies" but it is truth! We are living prophecy and our roadmap is the Bible.  It's unfortunate that we, as Believers can have the Word, with all it's direction and still make the same mistakes as the Believers of old.  Idolatry and pagan worship seeped into the early church for many different reasons as it does today.  Only the Holy Spirit can give us the wisdom and discernment to recognize all the wonderful things that the churches did and beware of the things that are said in Revelation, ... "but I have this against you..."
 
We as Believers must search out His complete truth as is revealed by the Holy Spirit and yes it will set us free!
 
Just as much as the Lord is full of grace, mercy and unconditional love, He is righteous and just.  Remember, He came as a lamb but He is coming back like a lion, The Lion of Judah!  Are we ready?
 
Dewey, there is much to share and I pray that these words have been ones of encouragement to continue to seek the face of our Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob ... Yahweh!

Paul’s goal is Christ’s goal for him and Christ supplies the resources for him to “press on toward the goal.”

 

Forgetting”  “Not losing all memory of his sinful past, but leaving it behind him

as done with and settled.”

“Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked an depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life  --  …”

“Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

 

 

NIV Philippians 8-9

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable --  if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.  What ever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice.  And the God of peace will be with you.”

 

 

I thank God for HIS good WORD.  He tells us everything we need or will ever need to know.  God is wise and knows our weaknesses and needs.  God is strong and supplies the strength that we need to overcome those things that could hold us down.

 

God knows our struggles and failures, but Christ enables us to let them go and leave them behind as not to hinder us from living a good life for Christ.   We learn from our mistakes and can use that knowledge to be a shining star for God.

 

God wants us to be happy, not full of guilt or burdens that leave no room for the love and forgiveness through Christ.

 

It is finished because Jesus said it is finished!  Glory be to God that all we have to do is receive HIS good WORD in our heart and trust HIM! We are forgiven and not to be hindered from a life with Christ…believe the truth in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

 

We can say together or alone:

Thank you Jesus for what you did for me.

 

In all things meditate on good things…Praise God in all things

Yes, we need Jesus!!!  We all need Jesus!!! 

                                                    …None of us can do it alone.

 

What is true in your world?

          I’ll give you one…Jesus loves you!

 

If things are so bad, then just say Jesus loves me all day long…

Replace the “so bad” with “Jesus loves me!”  “Jesus Loves Me”

JESUS LOVES ME!” 

Jesus loves   “me”….WOW!”

 

Now how good is Jesus?  Meditate on HIS goodness.

How awesome is God?  Meditate on HIS Amazing Grace.

How beautiful is God’s creation?  Meditate on HIS beauty.

Both agreed that it so important for Christians to vote!!!! Many Christians stayed home last general election. We cannot see that happen again.

Good afternoon,
 
It’s Trevor Thomas writing from the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization. 
 
I wanted to touch base to see if you or your colleague would be interested in writing on this week’s launch of Clergy Call 2009, a year-long educational effort to facilitate faith-based mobilization within congregations and local communities.  In 2008, we’re witnessing how America’s clergy are transforming our nation one congregation at a time and making it easier for people of faith to stand for GLBT equality.
 
Beginning this summer, HRC will support faith-based trainings throughout the country with a particular targeted emphasis on transgender education in 40 communities.  The trainings will lead into the national Clergy Call event May 4-5, 2009 and will propel faith leaders to organize and advocate locally for GLBT equality. 
 
The political landscape has changed since 2004, when we witnessed the use of anti-gay tactics to swing voters.  Clergy Call offers an opportunity for us to reach out to targeted congressional districts and push back on the religious right’s use of faith as a weapon against GLBT people. 
 
In 2004, with marriage bans on the ballot in 13 states and an incumbent President and the religious right using anti-gay rhetoric to drive a wedge in the electorate, candidates were on the defensive on the question of same-sex marriage and gay rights.  Since then, pro-equality advocates and Congressional allies have dealt the religious right a significant blow with the defeat of the Federal Marriage Amendment, and several key votes on employment protections and hate crimes legislation.   Candidates on both sides of the aisle are openly talking about issues of equality, participating in national GLBT debates, and competing for GLBT endorsements.    Younger Americans – who will be pivotal in November – believe in equality and firmly reject divisive politics, and an overwhelming majority of Americans believe in civil unions for same-sex couples.   Finally, states have moved toward equality for GLBT Americans through passage of anti-discrimination, relationship recognition, domestic partnership benefits and civil union laws.
 
Over the next year we’ll be doing extensive trainings to, a) identity people of faith; b) equip them with the tools necessary to support GLBT equality; 3) provide opportunities to have their voices heard in public policy discussions; and 4) as we did in 2007, where we brought 230 religious leaders from all 50 states to Washington, D.C., we’ll host congregations from across the country to participate in the second annual Clergy Call for Justice.

Reasons to OPPOSE  HB 9 DOMESTIC PARTNER RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES (or similar legislation in the future):

 

HB 9 states that a domestic partnership (which may be between two persons of the same sex) is not marriage, but then turns around and grants to each domestic partner the benefits and responsibilities of a spouse (which is a marriage partner, husband or wife) under New Mexico law. A domestic partner is a marriage partner. As such, these legal obligations, responsibilities, protections and benefits define this relationship as a marriage. HB 9 will make domestic partnerships equal to marriage and thus authorizes same-sex marriage in New Mexico.

New Mexico adopted a mandatory constitutional provision prohibiting polygamy in order to become a state in 1912. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld laws prohibiting polygamy based upon marriage meaning only the union of a man and a woman. Since HB 9 will make domestic partnerships equal to marriage and thus authorizes same-sex marriage, these domestic partnerships are unconstitutional in New Mexico.

Further, New Mexico law has always restricted who can marry in New Mexico as pursuant to Section 40-1-18 NMSA the application for a marriage license in NM requires a male applicant and a female applicant which restricts marriage to a union between a man and a woman and by prohibiting minors (without parental consent), Section 40-1-5 & 6 NMSA, certain blood relatives, Section 40-1-7 NMSA, and those who are already married (bigamy), Section 30-10-1 NMSA, from marrying.

Marriage has always been defined biologically and physiologically as a union between one man and one woman. Labeling it a domestic partnership and demanding equality for same-sex relationships does not change what marriage is.

Children are best raised by a father and a mother in a marriage as these children have higher academic success, better health, better emotional health, less risky behavior, fare better economically and attain higher job status as adults. In a domestic partnership there will not be a mother or a father.

Domestic partnerships between same-sex partners have already been created in New Mexico by private agreements. There is no need for the State of New Mexico to endorse these private agreements.

Further, health insurance coverage for domestic partners is offered by many health insurance companies in New Mexico. Health-care and end-of-life decision-making authority for each other is by a power of attorney and/or a partner as a surrogate who may make health-care decisions for the other partner without a health-care power of attorney under existing law (Uniform Health-Care Decisions Act, Section 24-7A-5 NMSA 1978).

 

 

The following is the House Floor vote during the 2008 Legislative Session on HB 9 DOMESTIC PARTNER RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES, which passed 33 (“yes” votes) to 31 (“no” votes) with 4 State Representatives excused from voting and 2 State Representatives absent from voting



 

If your State Representative voted YES on HB 9 DOMESTIC PARTNER RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES, please contact him or her (names below are links to contact information for email addresses, mailing addresses and telephone numbers) prior to the primary election on June 3, 2008 (preferably at least by the first half of May, 2008 to have sufficient time to dialogue with them) and politely ask why. If your State Representative responds to you, then you have an opportunity to persuade your State Representative to adopt your point of view and if not, you can send him or her your view point to think about it. During an election campaign your opinion as a constituent becomes very important to your State Representative.


 

If your State Representative voted NO on HB 9 DOMESTIC PARTNER RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES, please contact him or her (names below are links to contact information for email addresses, mailing addresses and telephone numbers) prior to the primary election on June 3, 2008 (preferably at least by the first half of May, 2008 to have sufficient time to dialog with them) and thank him or her if you have not done so already. If they are running for re-election and you are willing, please ask them how you may help in his or her re-election campaign.

If your get multiple results, enter the plus 4 of your zip code and click Search. This should give you the name of your State Representative, but if not, check your voter registration for your State Representative District number and use it in the this same search or call your County Clerk's Office.
