Dear Family of Jesus,
Welcome to the CUP! Thanks for stopping by!
Today I am drinking out of my Abe Lincoln CUP that has this quote from President Lincoln.”It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the LIFE IN YOUR YEARS! AMEN!
“Restore us, O God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.” Psalm 80:7, NIV
Today is a gift from God! What are you doing with this great gift of life. Use today to grow stronger in the Word of God and prayer. Know that God has placed you here for a purpose. Fulfill the purpose God has for your life, and if you don’t know what the Lord wants from you seek Him in His Word and He will fill you with wisdom.
The quote from President Lincoln sure fit’s the life of my Dear friend Karl McKibben. I got the news yesterday that Karl passed away. I remember when I first met Karl over 12 years ago. Rebecca Shuman, then Director of the Arc of New Mexico introduced me to Karl. I am so ever grateful that Rebbecca did. The world would say that Karl was…what’s that label they put on some people.”Special Needs”, but I am here to tell you that Karl had more than most! He always wanted to be a Sportscaster, So I put him on the radio Saturday mornings at 7am when I was at the old Joy AM 1550, and had him do the Sports! He loved Sports! In fact just about 2 weeks ago we met at the coffee shop by the Radio Ranch and he told me all what was wrong with the Minnesota Twins!!! I loved it!!! Karl knew everything about the Twins and all of Baseball! He predicted that the Washington Nationals will win the World Series! When we finished our coffee, Karl had soda pop, we went our way, back to work.I never thought it would be my last time seeing Karl alive here on earth.
The tell me Karl died in his sleep…….he was born in 1959…..a young man yet……I can still hear him say at the coffee shop, “Dewey, The Twins need to fire their Manager!” Karl had the biggest smile. Sharon and I loved this guy, he was in our Wedding. This “Special Needs” label people use…..Well, Karl met the needs of many of us with his love of life and that smile!
Last night we dedicated our Softball game in Memory of Karl, and we won!!! The Holy Spirit moved in me afterwards and told me Karl was so happy!
And the word’s this morning from President Lincoln fit Karl to a T! “It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years!”
Karl taught me another thing, despite the odds…despite being labeled by people…….with the determination of our Lord, with the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives we can overcome much with a SMILE on our face!
Karl taught me much…and I thank our Lord for bringing Karl into my life and being able to have that last CUP with him.
Be careful of putting labels on God’s people.
We also today mourn the death of Fire Chief Jon Tibbetts. The Sandoval County Chief was killed in a two car wreck yesterday on 1-25. He is described as a great family man and leader of the Dept, built it from scratch. His own department answered the call yesterday to find that their Chief had died in the accident.
Let us take time to mourn the passing of Karl and Chief Tibbetts, it is right to mourn……we have lost two great men. And then we also rejoice in their going home to our Lord.
I do not know if we even take time to mourn, we move so quickly from one tragedy to another.
With the killings of all those folks in Colorado, It sickens me to hear people debate and blame others for this..this should be a time of mourning.
I remember back home when someone passed, cars would even pull over to the side of the road and people would get out of their cards and bow their heads.
Here in Albuquerque it’s like the Indy 500 race trying to do a funeral procession to the cemetery.
My Daddy would say, “People are in a hurry to their own funeral!”
Let us slowdown in our Lord and look at our lives. Let us look if we are bearing fruit for our Lord. Let us look if we are planting seeds for God’s Glory Alone!
Let us be thankful for this time here on earth and do what the Lord wants us to do with our lives.
If you do not know what the Lord wants you to do, email me and we will talk about your relationship with Jesus Christ and being able to hear the Lord and what He wants you to do.
Let us pray also on the following:
Caretaker for Juliet Tross’s parents, contact me if you are interested.
I also want to encourage us to pray for Pastor Mark Tross, Juliet’s hubby, He is a man of great faith and a man that will go anywhere for the Lord. He is a man who is focused on what God wants, not man. He is a mentor of mine who has helped me in so many ways. My prayer today for Mark is for a refreshing of pure strength in our Lord! AMEN!
For Kathy Robbins strength and peace in our Lord like never before!
For Martha Montano and her illness, complete healing emotionally and physically!
For Mindi Schneider and her family in the passing of her Mother, for strength and peace during this time.
The Lord has shown me as I write this CUP today that their is someone holding onto a great burden who needs our prayers…….it is a very heavy burden…….I feel it right now in the Spirit, it is making me ill. email me, so we can pray together……..Oh my I feel it.
Please pray for me and Sharon and the kids and doggies as we go forth here this day.
PRAISE NOTE: happy Birthday to my Dear Sister Deb Rogers of Reading, Minnesota…..see you soon Deb in August at Megan’s Wedding, Lord Willing!
Father, Your gift of renewal is the greatest gift one can receive. Let me receive it with grace and humility and accept the changes in my fully so that I may not return to where I was before I accepted You into my life. Amen.
This is very timely……….
My Dear Friend John Taylor of www.makemylifeabible.com ; sent me a card with a picture of himself, a 6 foot 7 Prayer Warrior Cowboy and his little grandson walking together……the card says…….
Walking with Pawpaw
I like to walk with Pawpaw
His steps are short like mine.
He doesn’t say “Now hurry up!”
He always takes his time.
Most people have to hurry.
They do not stop and see.
I’m glad that God made Pawpaw.
“Unrushed” and young like me.
Love Taylor Tot
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!
POWER Words from pastor Alan Hawkins……….
At Penn State the innocent and the guilty suffer together. In our faith the innocent suffers and the guilty are set free. Very sad today for everyone involved. Very grateful for the Gospel.

2 Peter 1:4
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.

They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Proverbs 1:33
But all who listen to me will live in peace,
untroubled by fear of harm.”
John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Huckabee: ‘We Have a Sin Problem’
Sunday, July 22, 2012 06:04 PM
By: Patrick Hobin
Mike Huckabee, speaking on his Fox News show, said America doesn’t have a gun problem or crime problem but a “sin problem” and that while the Aurora movie massacre was a horrible incident that deserves the media coverage it’s getting, other daily American tragedies such as mass abortion, suicides, and other murders should receive more attention.
The former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate said his Fox News segment that the shooting “is impossible to understand except that we live in a world where there is evil.”
“We simply don’t know why any person would reach deep enough into the forces of darkness to decide to kill innocent people simply watching a movie,” Huckabee said, adding that he is refusing to name the killer because he is not interested in “helping him become a celebrity.”
Huckabee said killing a dozen people in a movie theater gets attention because it doesn’t happen every day “but one million innocent and unborn babies die in their mother’s wombs each year by elective abortions and we pay scant attention to that.”
He cited the 6,500-plus troops lost in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and suicides in the U.S. as other examples of tragedies which do not generate as many headlines as a mass shooting.
“I’m not attempting to disparage the attention being given to the Aurora theatre shooting,” he noted. “We should all pray for the victim, their families and friends and offer our help for the physical and emotional recovery of the survivors. But the victim of a murder in a convenience store robbery or a wife who dies at the hands of a serial abuser is also precious life.”
“Ultimately,” Huckabee concluded, “We don’t have a crime problem or a gun problem – or even a violence problem. What we have is a sin problem. And since we ordered God out of our schools and communities, the military and public conversations, you know, we really shouldn’t act so surprised when all hell breaks loose.”

July 24, 2012. Are you struggling with your feelings of inadequacy to please Me? Some people spend a lifetime seeking and searching for ways to be with Me. They seek Me without knowledge of My word. This means they do not know the instructions and clues I have given on how to find Me. Tthey do not feel worthy of finding Me. Quit looking for Me in the dry and dusty places. Those are the dwelling places and habitat of the devil. Find My hill and learn to ascend it under the conditions I prescribe. Wash your hands and purify your heart. Cease from lying and deceitfulness. Be real and proud of who I have made you to be. On My hill there are blessings forever and righteousness as the cherry on top. Come up here.
Psalm 24:3-5 (NASB) “Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive a blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” Ras Robinson

July 24, 2012. Why you feel so separated is a mystery. But nevertheless is the way you feel quite often. You aren’t sure exactly when you started feeling this way, but this is how you feel now. Don’t spend time a lot of time thinking about it or you will begin feeling even more separated. If you start getting too negatively introspective, the devil hops on you and then the problem seems to get out of hand. Go on about your business and get your mind on what is before you to do. This isn’t about you. You haven’t caused it but you are perpetuating it. Call to Me. I will show you what to do.
Jeremiah 33:3 (NASB) ‘ Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ Bev Robinson

July 24, 2012. Each day of your life, make the determination within yourself not to, “run with the devil!” Crucify your flesh continually so you will not be swayed by carnal thinking. The word in 1 Corinthians 15:33 reads, “Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.” Be careful who you associate with. Concentrate your efforts toward people who build up. Don’t associate yourself with those who are constantly tearing down. Words are very powerful and people’s actions often speak louder than their words do. Make the choice to choose life, not death. Refuse to be misled down paths of destruction. I have created a clean heart within you. Renew yourself daily with Me.
Romans 2:1-2 (NASB) “Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.” Kevin Robinson
Here is today’s Medical Bag………..
Heart Disease and Women continued…
– Protect Your Heart with Exercise
Women who walk or do other exercise daily experience less cardiovascular aging. They have fewer heart attacks and strokes, lower blood pressure, and higher blood levels of heart-protective HDL cholesterol. The heart-healthy benefits of being physically active add up fast. In as little as 90 days, doctors can actually measure the age-reducing effects of regular exercise.
Heart-Healthy Tip: Pick up the pace. When it comes to walking and heart health, speed and frequency count. Yes, strolling is better than sitting, but you get the most benefits if you really step out – ideally for 30 minutes a day, most days.
– Boost Your Self-Esteem
Women often have high expectations of themselves. If they fall short, anxiety, anger, and depression often come knocking. Unfortunately, negative emotions aren’t just unpleasant. They’re bad for your heart. They fire up inflammation and damage arteries. Feeling good about your life and accomplishments, however, reduces your risk of heart disease by at least 13%. The better you feel about yourself, your family, your job, and your life, the happier your heart is. So it’s worth working on being more enthusiastic about, and satisfied with, what you have and what you’ve achieved.
Heart-Healthy Tip: Identify your unique skills and share them! For example, if you’re great with numbers, help a volunteer group with its bookkeeping. You’ll gain a sense of purpose and a more meaningful life – two big happiness and self-esteem boosters.
– Eat a Fiber-Rich Diet
Fiber’s heart-saving magic is a three-for-one deal: It improves cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, and reduces belly fat — all good things in terms of lowering your risk of heart disease. In a 14-year study, people who ate the most fiber (particularly from fruit and whole grains) had about an 18% lower risk of dying from heart disease compared to folks with minimal fiber intake. Fiber may also help reduce your breast cancer risk, too.
Heart-Healthy Tip: Enjoy a bowl of steel-cut oatmeal soaked in Almond milk with berries and walnuts for breakfast. This fruity, nutty cereal gives you two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. Research shows that eating ample amounts of soluble fiber and insoluble fiber may reduce your risk of death due to heart disease.
– Get a Good Night’s Sleep
You’ve probably heard that not getting enough sleep raises your risk of type 2 diabetes. But trading in ZZZs to catch your favorite TV show or finish that report also triples your risk of biochemistry shifts that encourage heart disease. What’s more, shorting yourself on sleep hurts your heart by encouraging you to overeat and throwing off your body’s sensitivity to insulin. That affects your heart and arteries – and raises your risk of diabetes.
Heart-Healthy Tip: Slide into bed earlier and avoid habits that are likely to cause sleep problems, such as afternoon caffeine, before-bed stress (e.g., paying bills, working), and a too-warm or too-bright bedroom.
Eat for Better Heart Health
When you think about a healthy diet, do you pat yourself on the back just for skipping the French fries and donuts? Research shows it’s just as important – if not more important – to think about what’s on your plate – not just what’s not on your plate. “A heart-healthy plate is not one that’s without the offenders,” says Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, RD, author of The Super Foods Rx Diet and nutrition advisor at Golden Door fitness resort and spa in Escondido, CA. “It’s about eating foods with nutrients that help promote, improve, and maintain a healthy heart.”
Tomorrow I will share with you some of the best foods you can eat for a healthier heart which is backed by nutrition research and expert advice.
Thanks Dr. Joe!!!
