Be encouraged this day folks!!!
There are many more break through coming this day for the Body of Christ!!!
Oh yes there are! the Lord has told me so!!!!!! AMEN!! Hallelujah!!
Thank YOU LORD for the miracle of Baby Eden! Thank you all for praying for her and family!
Yesterday I got a text message from Jeanell Abeyta, her and her husband JR who are such dear friends of our’s from the Lighthouse Church in Chimayo. They were on their way to Dallas to see their Son, Andrew and daughter-in-law Karlie, and of course check in how Baby Eden was doing. Baby Eden had not been born yet but Doctor’s knew their was a problem with her intestines being outside her body. Yesterday in route to Dallas, Jeanell and JR were altered that the Doctor’s were going to do a c-section and get the problem taken care of. We sent you all a prayer alert and I also called on Dear friend John Lay of Time to Revive in Dallas who went over to Baylor Hospital to pray. Ray Sturdivant of Dallas who does a program on KKIM, well his wife is one of the Head nurses where Eden is!!! The Body of Christ came together yesterday and we were all giving Praise and Thanks to our Lord as we got the word that Baby Eden did really well in surgery! Eden weighs 2 pounds and 11 ounces and is 7 months.
Thank you all for coming together as the Body of Christ to pray for baby Eden and family. Let us continue to pray for good health for Eden.
I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and definitely recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them even as You have loved Me. John 17:23
The Body of Christ must be together shining the Light of Jesus Christ all over the World. We must unite in prayer!
Today we have excellent writings from 3 Godly Women! Rene Dokken, Karen Rowe and Darlene Quiring! Man oh Man! They are so filled with the Holy Spirit! Their writings tie right in with the Body of Christ coming together!
First this:
Thought for the Day: “God has made you stronger than you might think! He has instilled in you His Spirit and, as you learn to be one with His Spirit, you will grow in your ability to resist temptation, overcome negativity and adversity, and be open to receiving and sharing His love with those around you. Your power comes from His Spirit – find it inside you, grow in it, and live in it.” I hope you have a great day today my friends! – Elmer Laydon
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NIV)
Now this from Rene………..DYNAMITE STUFF!!!!!
Thanks Dewey for the encouragement that came via Paul.
I have been encouraged by many recently. One of the things that God impressed upon my heart is that those who are with us are more than those who are against us!
I am so often like Elisha’s servant in 2 Kings 6:15b- “Oh my Lord what shall we (I) do?”
As we look around us and see things ramping up, the violence, the disasters, and the increasing attacks against God’s people it is hard not to get into a defensive posture. But we must be people of joy, we have been given abundant life in our Lord Jesus and none of the afore mentioned things can take that away. We must use the weapons that are in our quiver. We must rely on the authority of the Lord Jesus to empower us. We are filled with His Holy Spirit and that equips us. We need to stay in His word and build our arsenal so that we can fight the battle against the “powers in this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”. Over and over I must remind myself who the battle is with and it is not my fellow man. We need to wage war with the real enemy.
2 Corinthian 10:3-6
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
The good news is that “Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world-1 John 4:4 and as Elisha said 16″Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”17 And Elisha prayed, “O Lord , open his eyes so he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:16-17
Dear Lord help me keep my spiritual eyes open to what is really going on around me and contend for your truth. There are chariot’s and horses around us, contending for us! I am not to be distracted by the evil one from the truth. Help me to walk in your light.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6
Blessings!
Rene’
God Bless you Rene, when I read your stuff I had to run around the house 7 times!
Karen Rowe sent this in after yesterdays CUP………More DYNAMITE!!!!!!!!!!
Dewey,
I did want to pop in and say thank you for this timely Cup Today! I was just telling my daughter, how we must sacrifice and do as things come to us as those things that we can do, but that just the sacrifice is not enough! We must do good things for people with a joyful heart! We must reach deep in our heart to refocus our mind on Christ and the sacrifice that He made for us! These small emotional inconveniences are crosses that we have thrown in our way from time to time and again and again is seems … and that we need to bare them; and we need to bare them with great joy that we can do these things, because of all that Jesus has done for us already!
And so we worked out our issue to do what we are called to do and found our grateful heart to humbly say the right words and do the right thing regardless of what is necessarily fair to us! It wasn’t fair what was done to Jesus either, but there was purpose! And so there is purpose for us as well…
So I thank you for this Cup Today as I read this late in the day! It just confirms what I already knew, and gives me more strength and conviction that we must stay in step with the Spirit and never tire of doing the right thing, which is only possible by sacrificing selfish ambition and envy to simply remain patient and kind with self-control and a gracious and giving heart!
I find that thanking God for the big stuff enables me to overcome the little things … Grateful to be blessed by God!
Welcome back btw!
Love in Christ,
Karen
Blessed because of Jesus!
Walking Blessed Because of Obedience!
MORE DYNAMITE!!! Darlene Quiring Preaches a good sermon here……..this is what the CUP is all about! THANK YOU LORD FOR TODAYS CUP!!!!!!!!!
Jesus taught us the importance of daily prayer. He said, Always pray, never lose heart (Luke 18:1). He also said to converse with God day and night (Luke 18:7). When He taught His disciples to pray, He told them to ask God for their daily needs (Luke 11:3).
Jesus set an example of daily prayer by praying during all kinds of circumstances:
- He prayed at His baptism (John 3:21).
- He prayed as He faced His passion (Matthew 26:39) and on the cross (Matthew 27:46; Luke 23:34,46).
- Jesus prayed while in agony, He prayed all the more earnestly (Luke 22:44).
- He prayed during sad times, like at the tomb of His friend Lazarus.
- He prayed all night before He chose His disciples. (Luke 6:12).
- He prayed when He broke bread and gave it to others to eat (John 6:11).
Jesus made it a priority to pray. “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (Luke 5:16), or He sent the crowds away and went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray (Matthew 14:23). We also read that Jesus rose “very early in the morning” and “went off to a solitary place where He prayed” (Mark 1:35).
Daily Prayer: What Else the Bible Says
The Bible tells us to pray on all occasions, making our requests known to God (Ephesians 6:18). Scripture tells us to pray without stopping (1 Thessalonians 5:17). It tells us never to worry about anything, and to thank God for what He has already provided (Philippians 4:6).
Jesus taught His followers to pray a simple daily prayer. You may know it by heart already as The Lords Prayer, but it will become more meaningful to you if you take time to think about what each phrase means. Then say it in your own words:
- Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. At the beginning of your prayer, acknowledge that God is your Father. For example, you might pray, “God, thank You for loving me and adopting me as Your child, though I did nothing to deserve Your love.”
- Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. These phrases are all about your desire to have God’s ideals acted out here on earth. Ask God to show you what He wants done today and to give you the energy or courage to do it. Ask Him to show you any ways in which you might be unaware you are doing something that is less than His ideal and to help you change.
- Give us this day our daily bread. Ask God to provide for you physically today. Feel free to ask for other needs such as housing, clothing, a job, safety, etc. Get specific about what you need and thank Him for the ways He has provided in the past.
- And forgive us our trespasses even as we forgive those who trespass against us. Ask God to forgive you for those things you know you have done wrong. You may want to pray for God’s help in conquering a sin that keeps recurring in your life. Ask God for His forgiveness and thank Him. Then, think about whether there is anyone in your life who you have not forgiven. Take a moment to mentally forgive others. Ask God to intervene in those areas of your life.
- Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. After praying for forgiveness, pray for protection from temptations and evil for self and family.
- For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory. Amen. Acknowledge that God has the power to answer your prayers and perform what He has promised.
Thanks again to Rene, Karen and Darlene for contributing to the CUP today…….The Body of Christ coming together. I am thankful for these three women who have become regular contributors to the CUP as the Holy Spirit moves in their lives! AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
God gives me the Words for me to type each day here at the CUP..the words are not of me but of the Lord…….I really was blessed by this message today by Fullnessonline…….

Hungry children come when they hear there is food. Many have no food in their home. Thank you for your gifts to feed hungry children. See photo below.
August 24, 2012. An elderly widow wrote and said she just had to ask: “Are your words really from God or are they merely thoughts you yourself think.? ” She was sorry she could not make a contribution to the ministry. I wrote to her: “You may not be able to contribute money to our ministry, but your prayers would be priceless if God should lead you to pray for us. Bev, Kevin and I have discussed your question about the source of our daily words. All three of us follow the same routine of seeking in prayer to hear God. We then declare what we heard to our readers. Most times, we seek the Lord early in the morning and pray for the nations and people all over the world. We ask God to speak to our hearts what He wants us to say on His behalf to the nations. We include the Scripture verse or verses He impresses upon us. My first word for “What the Lord Is Saying Today” was January 6, 2001. God called me to add Bev as a writer in November, 2007. Kevin’s first published word was in January 2012.” If this word is a blessing to you and YOU would like to contribute, here is a link for giving online: Donate to FCM. Mark 1:35 (NASB) “In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.” Ras Robinson Subscribe to “What the Lord Is Saying Today” August 24, 2012. Thoughts of your ancestors have flooded your mind. Some family members you knew well and others you hardly knew at all. You aren’t sure why this happened at this time. There are some in your family who do not know what you know. Now is one of the times to tell what you know. Your family needs to celebrate the good of what I did in those who have gone on before them. They also need to embrace the bad as well as the good. And then reject, repent and break off the bad that you know and even that which you don’t know. This is a day I give to begin again. Exodus 3:15 (AMP) “God said also to Moses, This shall you say to the Israelites: The Lord, the God of your fathers, of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has sent me to you! This is My name forever, and by this name I am to be remembered to all generations.” Bev Robinson Scroll down to see “Photo of the Day” from our ministry to children in the Philippines. August 24, 2012. Take steps of faith like Abraham did when he went forth with Isaac to the mountain. Be obedient to the specific instructions I have spoken to you within your heart. Listen attentively to what I say. Above all, give me your undivided attention. Are you willing to make the necessary sacrifices to trust me with whatever you cherish the most? Let Me establish My ways with you. I am your heavenly Father and know I have only the best in store for you. Put all the burdens you have been struggling with upon Me. Be quick to obey specifically what I have said for you to do. Trust Me and believe.Hebrews 11:8 (NASB) “By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Kevin Robinson |

The Benefits of Pushups
Build Strength
Pushups are one of the oldest and most basic exercises and they are very effective. Former NFL star Herschel Walker was one of the top running backs in the game in the 1980s. He shunned weightlifting but did a regimen of at least 100 pushups every day, something he has continued well into his retirement. “They helped me get in shape and stay in shape,” Walker said, “That’s why I have always done them. Every day.”
They work:
1. your chest
2. hands, forearms, biceps, triceps
3. shoulders, trapezius, upper back, lower back
4. abdominals
5. glutes (butt muscles)
6. hamstrings (muscles in the back of your upper legs), quads (muscles in front of your upper leg), calf, feet
7. your heart muscle gets stronger and your mind get more ‘clear’, too
Every muscle between your shoulders and your toes is engaged.
Increase Metabolism
Pushups push the body toward physical exertion. In addition to building strength, they force the heart to work harder and the blood to pump faster. This increases metabolism and helps you burn more calories. The benefit of the pushup is still felt hours after the exercise is done.
– you can perform them anywhere, anytime
– you don’t need any technical equipment
– it cost you nothing for gym membership or anything else
– you can make them alone, with no hassle around
– regular performing gives you almost perfect lean and very healthy look
Confidence
Doing pushups on a regular basis will make you stronger and improve your overall conditioning. However, it will also increase your confidence. Men, you’ll find that doing pushups in sets of 25, 50 and 100 will build massive arm and upper body strength. Do it regularly and you will build as much strength as the guys who spend hours in the gym. This will give you tremendous pride in your accomplishment and the confidence that comes with achievement. It is such a good exercise that the U.S. Army still uses the pushup as one of its primary activities to get soldiers in shape.
Benefit to Women
Women typically have less upper body strength than men. While there has been an increase in women’s’ weightlifting, many women are not comfortable lifting barbells and heavy dumbbells. Pushups can be the great equalizer. Women who do pushups can quickly build strength in the chest, upper arms, forearms and wrists. Doing 3 sets of 10 to 15 pushups is a great starting point for women who want to get stronger.
Proper Form of a Pushup
In addition to building upper body strength and gaining more power in the arms, shoulders and hands, pushups done with the proper form will help build the core muscles in the middle of your body.
To do pushups properly, your elbows must be fully extended at the start and end of a pushup, your toes should be on the floor and your legs, hips and back should be straight. No swaying of the hips as you go up and down. Keep a straight line from your head down to your ankles when you’re in the lifted position. Don’t let your chest actually touch the floor when you come down.
Your chest should come within 2 to 3 inches of the floor. Put a textbook, a sneaker, a rolled-up sock underneath you, and when you touch it, it’s time to go back up.
If you’re having trouble … lifting the whole body in the proper alignment, you can do the same exercise, but do it on your knees. While you still need to keep a straight line from neck to torso, by engaging the knees you’ll reduce your lifting load by about half.
If you need to minimize tension on the wrist, there’s a variation called the “knuckle push-up”. For this type of push-up, you close your hands and put your weight on your knuckles instead of your palms, avoiding the wrist extension motion. But be sure to do this type of push-up on a padded mat or carpet. Because there is clearly less fat on this part of the hand, you really do need to add some type of padding if you are going to try this.
If even a kneeling push-up is too tough for you, there’s an even easier way to begin. You don’t have to lie down at all. Instead, do your push-ups standing against the wall, which dramatically reduces the pressure on arms and upper back. To make it simpler still, stand closer to the wall. With your feet very close to the wall, there’s almost no strain, but it still allows you to keep your body in alignment so you get a real sense of how it should feel. As you gain strength, keep moving your feet further away until you feel confident enough to try push-ups on the floor.
Here are some tips to help you perfect your push-up technique:
– Keep making small changes in your routine, like angling your hands or changing how far apart they are. This will ensure that you keep gaining benefits.
– When starting out, use a “spotter” – someone to watch the angle of your body. If that’s not possible, do your push-ups next to a mirror where you can turn your head and catch a glimpse of your form.
– As you lower yourself toward the ground, the first thing that should come closest to the floor is your chest. If your hips or legs come down first, you’re doing it wrong.
– Ladies, for toning muscles (and for smooth, jiggle-free upper arms) you need morerepetitions with less body weight, so go for push-ups on your knees or standing at a wall.
– To build muscle mass in your upper arms and back, go for fewer reps with maximum weight load. – – – Do push-ups with your legs straight out, and bring your chest no lower than 2 inches from the ground.
– Remember that while a push-up helps tone muscles body-wide be sure to include other exercises in your regular workouts.
A Challenge for the Men!
The Rules for the Push-Up Test
1. After a warm-up, you’re going to do push-ups for 3 minutes.
2. You can rest whenever you want – but the clock keeps running.
3. You must do every repetition with perfect form.
4. Pace yourself however you’d like… take a 15-second break once you start to slow down after your first burst. Then take longer breaks as you get more tired. Do NOT go to total fatigue.
5. Add up the total number of reps you perform in 3 minutes:
Less than 55 reps = below average
55-74 reps = Average
75-99 reps = Good
100-110 reps = Excellent
More than 111 reps = Extraordinary
I believe push-ups are one of the most effective exercises for improving total body fitness. They include cardiovascular training, weight/body lifting and muscle stretching all in one exercise. Okay now, drop down and give me 20 and have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks Dr. Joe….you were not talking about those Push Up’s that were ice cream when we were kid’s??? remember those???…..you would push them up as the ice cream would melt???? LOL LOL
