Dear Family of our Lord Jesus Christ,
This is our Thanksgiving CUP to you all!
We thank you all for all your love and prayers…..Kind words are like honey—-sweet to the soul and healthy for the body Proverbs 16:24
This verse just warms my heart……this is my Thanksgiving verse………
“I am he,” said Jesus. “You don’t have to wait any longer or look any further.” AMEN You will find that in verse 26 John 4 and when you go to verse 34……
Jesus said, “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started.”
I know I shared that yesterday with you……..but my prayer is that these verses will stick with your heart, mind and soul.
There is no better food than the Bread of Life, The Word of God.
This is our Testimony to you all this day…Thank you for your healing prayers……….

Thank you all for your Thanksgiving CUPS! But first…………
Let us now go into prayer…………
Dewey,
Can you please send a prayer to my nieces boyfriend, Richard. He’s in the hospital and they are going to remove a tumor in his brain. Please pray he makes a good recovery. It would be greatly appreciated.
Roger Vallejos
We are praying for healing for Richard. I read John 4 verse 26 to Roger, just that one verse gave him peace, there is much peace in the Word of God, the only peace.
Marilyn Morrison 85 years of age was to undergo surgery for a broken leg and hip yesterday. Please pray for healing.
My dearest Dewey….
Thank goodness Sharon is doing well. I totally understand what you say, we often have the same trouble with my brother Conrad, whom I know you met at my (and Peter’s) wedding. Also a nurse. Also next to impossible to get him to take half as good care of himself as he lavishes on his patients. God be praised however, that our Holy Father continues to watch over our loved ones! Happy to hear Sharon is better.
Sadly today, however, I am writing because our family is in need of prayer this Holiday week.
Conrad, his lovely wife, Margarita, their three beautiful babies along with my Mom, were scheduled to come to Albuquerque from Tucson for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We haven’t seen them for many months and we were looking forward to their visit.
However, yesterday, we were alerted that Margarita’s 88-year old Grandmother and namesake, Margarita Vasquez, has had an ischemic stroke and is currently hospitalized for observation. We don’t know the extent of her illness as yet, but her speech is slurred and she’s very weak. Further, it seems the medical staff may well have misdiagnosed her initially, so the situation is compounded in that they may have missed an important window of opportunity to help her and reduce the effects of the stroke. I don’t pretend to know much about strokes, but this is what has been shared with me. I’m sure Sharon can add much wisdom here.
My brother has said these coming hours and days after a stroke can be very precarious. So we are praying she remains stable and does not also incur inflammation in the brain, which I understand can be so dangerous. As of this writing, her prognosis is as yet unknown.
Yesterday, I spoke to my sister in law a couple of different times, told her, of course, her Grandmother is in our prayers and that we wish we could, instead, go there, but that’s just not possible right now. But we can pray. And we can mobilize as many of our Lord’s Warriors to do so as well.
Thus, I humbly ask if we could please request prayer for Mrs. Vasquez as this will be a tenuous time for her and her family. At best, we are hoping for as much of a recovery as the Lord will allow. But even so, this little lady was, until recently, fiercely independent, living alone and getting on very well. But I don’t think her life will ever be the same. It would also be a blessing if we could request a special prayer from Pastor John Taylor, if that’s a possibility. I loved what he said on ‘Dewey And Friends’ and just watching both of you was such an inspiring show. Thank you for sharing that with me. I’m passing it on to my sister in law and her family.
Dewey, whatever prayers come our way would be most welcome. Thank you in advance for your kind assist in this. We look forward to the Lord’s reply and we give thanks, this day and every day, for all of His blessings. Especially for bringing you into our lives in such an encouraging and motivating way to guide us to the Lord.
Margarita Vasquez, here with my niece, Marisol and my nephew, Emilio.
Thank you, and bless you, Sir. God keep you and Sharon in His tender care.
Love you!

Giving Hearts make me Happy, by Karen Rowe
November 21, 2012
Good morning and no matter the date on the calendar, happy Thanksgiving Day! Yesterday was a tuff day for me! I worked from 4 am till 9:30 last night, but I want to tell you about the best parts of my day!
About 4:30, it was crunch time! I still had not finished my work; and now I needed to feed 2 hungry kids; grateful for leftovers, I felt a bit relieved until I remembered that today was “Trash Tuesday!” I began to squirm and squander trying to retain my complaining mouth, as I was so frustrated that my tasks of the day had taken so long, I still had not accomplished my good goals of the day!
Like “facing the giant,” moving my feet made it simple! Once I changed my complaining mind from all that I wanted to do, to doing what had to be done, going to the trash dump become the title of DDC that I write for you Today and the best part of my day!
I get to ride in a big white Ford F-250 with Country music and fresh air; and this time of the year, grateful to have a good work coat to keep me warm! But this job is an excuse to force me to take a break from the frustrations of the world! There is something rewarding about taking the trash to the dump! I suppose it is that feeling of tossing out stress and unwanted garbage that just hangs around being ugly in one big swoop; and everything immediately feels free!
As good as this feeling is; and I know I am talking about a gnarly job, because we live in the Country and I stand on the back of that truck and empty icky bags of rotten food into an open dumpster that sometimes can smell! Yet, going to the trash dump was one of the best parts of my day yesterday –and I deem this trip the best, because of one girl with a smile that made my day!
Giving hearts make me smile; but it makes me think, what are we doing with ours?
I didn’t know this girl and I didn’t know this family, but mere smiles from them to me, made me feel like I somehow knew them – they showed me God’s love! I saw that girl’s heart through her joyful humility; and in her smile! As I was pulling away from the 2nd recycle station, I noticed a girl probably 9 years old helping her family, not just helping; it was obvious she was glad to help –and I noticed her smile! Pausing just a minute, I motioned her by and was willing to wait the extra time because I was so taken back by joy in that girls heart coming through her smile and her eyes that I could see Jesus in –even at this distance!
Along with this smile, this girl displayed the humility of Jesus that offers utmost respect in giving!!!
Sometimes we just can think “all about me,” and consume our mind with thoughts ‘I just want to get this over with’ … and speed through the motions of emotions –feeling thoughts; and forget that we have purpose in all that we do! However, this girl gave me the “right a-way!” She stopped dragging this big sheet of heavy metal to motion me along my way as if she was saying, “I’ve got this; I am happy helping and I don’t want to hold you up.” She was thinking more about me –than she was of herself! I nodded with a smile and looked beyond this child to see who was with her …
I would like to assume it was her parents, but we don’t know that –and we don’t know their story either, but I know she knows she is loved by God! Because I saw God’s love reflecting in her eyes –and in her smile – I saw she believes and knows how much God loves her!
So I may not know the history or the present tense of this girl’s life –or of those who were obviously with her; however, what I do know is that they were happy working together just like me doing the deed that needed to be done! What was awesome to see was that they were doing this gnarly job with a joyful heart and they acted like a family of God!
The dad seemingly on purpose made eye contact with me and his smile to me spoke to my heart and just made me happy! It was like God inspired him to smile; and maybe they were angels, because God knew I had a tuff day and God knew my heart needed a smile and a relief from the stress that was stealing my own!
Think of this –Who could use your smile today? Look around you, because I didn’t have a tag on my forehead that said, ‘it is tuff right now’ … If you read any of my writings, you may be amazed to learn that I had a day that I needed to see God’s love through another, because I walk tight with Jesus, but we are God’s gift to each other too! Some people to us may be like “iron sharpens iron” and others may feel like a cheese grater against us, but the fact is, we need to be showing God’s love to each other without thought, but rather from our heart filled with God’s love!
When I got home, I was renewed and re-energized –full of smiles myself and proud that I dug deep in my cluttered thoughts to do what needed to be done, because this dreaded job turned out to be the best part of my day!
This Thanksgiving, remember the power of giving love! Remember that there is power in a distant gesture of love with a smile or a glance with Jesus dancing in your eyes with joy! Before I leave you Today …the 2nd Best Part of my day:
I feel lead to share the 2nd best part of my day, because we can learn from horses too! After I parked and unloaded the truck, the horses were waiting to be fed. Happy to have small bales of hay that I can handle without a tractor, I broke the string on the bale of hay to carry some food to 4 hungry horses that demonstrate how NOT to be sometimes!
Hungry and impatient, the 2 bigger horses, especially the dominate mare, who controls the herd –become rude and selfish with the ‘first foods’ that arrive –so much so thinking about their own pile of hay, that they can get right down mean to each other…and it begins with the dominate and controlling mare –and then the next mare does the same thing!
NOTICE: People are watching us –that little girl and that that man’s smile –to me were contagious…so also is our every attitude …
Check out this comparison … To God Be the Glory Alone –Just now realizing that both of these mare’s behavior yesterday was not characteristic of how they were before they learned this behavior from another horse that began with one we called Spirit! Before they still always had plenty of food, but they learned this way to survive –because their life circumstances completely changed; and so did they –and then they become a teacher!
Life circumstances can throw us a new way of thinking because we can get kicked into survival mode, but we are not horses, we can pray and rise above the circumstance to remember who we are! We are loved by God with a purpose to show love with a grateful heart and we have all our needs met by a loving Father, who IS God! We can change both ways … for the good or for the bad, but change begins with a new way of thinking! I choose to believe God’s Word –Jesus is our every-thing that we need to survive well!
Satan will tempt us with thoughts, “Did God really say ____________?” Be certain of your teacher that you are learning from –The Holy Spirit and the Word of God!
So I pray for extra patience this holiday season for everyone to remember the reason for the season is LOVE, because that pile of hay in our life can become personal too … Remember that girl and smile and share and give respect with a humble heart, because giving thanks by being at peace and reflecting God’s love is where happiness is full and complete.
I got off course there –maybe, but tying this back together, remember the selfish horses that showed me all they cared about was getting fed and how not to be? Yet, Maggie May made my day! She is a 3 year old baby mini horse! I held her in my arms in her first hours of life! She is funny and she wasn’t too concerned about having enough food, she come over just to see me! The unconditional love that Maggie May showed me was a best part of my day too and she made me smile, because she didn’t ask anything from me; she only wanted to be near me!
I hope we can learn to treat others like this. Although we are not responsible for another’s happiness; and we can’t control how another feels –still yet, we can influence others in their strife, by either heaping hot coals on their heads / or reflecting God’s agape love for them to see ~
This Thanksgiving, let’s choose to be like Maggie May and make people feel happy, by sharing our love, our time, our food and our smiles with them –to let them know they are important to us too; and maybe this will be the best part of their day!
True happiness comes from giving with a heart that is filled with God’s love!
Is anything stealing your smile? What job could you do that would get you to this Recycling Center of your life?
If you notice, I didn’t quote any Scriptures Today, but I will say, God loves you; and there is so much more –I can’t write it all Today! The Word is written in our hearts to know God’s love, but we do need to remember to read our Bibles! I am filled because I did a full Bible Study yesterday called: Thanksgiving Bread with a Grateful Heart –Believing what is True, by Karen Rowe
If you would like to read this Bible study, just let Dewey know and I’ll get it to him to forward to you; or you can write me at karen and I’ll be glad to forward to you as a gift from a friend!
Love in Christ,

From my heart to yours … The Bible says, above all things to get ~ Get understanding!
Now from Shari Hardway Johnson……….
Caught Up for Christ
The Scripture tells of an Ethiopian eunuch that was sitting in his buggy reading the Bible and trying to understand the book of Isaiah the prophet without success, until Phillip “happens” to come upon him and explain the prophetic scripture he was reading in ~ Isaiah 53:7 ~ “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth,” which foretold of the crucifixion of Christ. When the Eunuch heard the words of Phillip and understood the salvation provided through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, at the first opportunity given he followed in obedience. Acts 8:36 ~ “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?”
Following the baptism, as they together exited the water, the eunuch’s new found friend in the faith disappeared! Vanished! But the rejoicing didn’t cease. Verse 39 says “And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”
Continuing On…
Over the years friends of the faith have come and gone out of my life, but I continue in the rejoicing. The friends left for various reasons, some good… some bad. But it didn’t change the calling on my own life. Phillip was not in that region by coincidence. God’s providential plan brought Phillip by that way to lead a soul to Christ and ignite a fire that would further the gospel. So did God place my Pastor in my path in 1996 that would ignite the fire in my soul and he and I would continue rejoicing. He now has gifted me with the calling in my life to speak to women and young people and ignite that same fire from 2000 years ago.
That same fire that caught in the buggy in Gaza, burns in my soul in Calhoun County, West Virginia today because saints of God continued on throughout the ages sharing the gospel of Christ and doing so with
Confidence in…
Try as they might the educated fools who attempt to discount the facts of the Bible cannot. It is proven true again and again and testified as such by Christians throughout the world, who each have a testimony of what Christ has done in their lives. Is it any wonder the world could not hold the books that could be written on what He has done?
John 21:25
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
This is where are confidence lies. Not in fables… in fact! That is why I’m
Caught up!
I have not disappeared or been carried 30 miles down the road as Phillip was, but I’ve been caught up in the Gospel of Christ since 1996 with an understanding that God had a providential plan for my life too, and I’d be held accountable for the souls that crossed my path. It’s amazing to be caught up in this adventure of faith, and it is just that, “an adventure.” It’s never been dull. Those who do not enjoy their walk with Christ I would have to wonder if they’re on the path that Christ intended. In the best and the worst of times we can rejoice in the Lord because we see His prophecy unfolding before our eyes and we are a part of the plan!
Have a Great, Christ Focused Day!
Shari
Now from Darlene………..
2 Corin. 8:9 “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich.” A couple of weeks ago, I ministered on “How Rich Is Rich?” We we look at the Gospel of John It helps us to have a little more understanding. John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” We understand that this beginning is the same beginning of Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God…” Now we go to John 4:24 where we read “God is Spirit.” Now using the word Spirit, go back to John 1:1 it would read “And the Word was Spirit.” Now look at John 1:14 and read using the word Spirit: And the Spirit was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. The Spirit who created everything became but a speck of the dust of His creation (the womb of Mary) which received…
the Divine Seed. As in the words of a song: “He came a long, long way from heaven to give to us eternal life.” Then the question is: What was the purpose? For that we turn again in John to the 14th chapter verse 2-3 where we read: In my Father’s house are (they are already there) many mansions (abodes): if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that WHERE I AM, THERE YE MAY BE ALSO.” He came from Spirit in order to bring us to Spirit. The Cross is what makes that possible, for it was on the Cross that He cried “FATHER FORGIVE THEM.” We along with all creation are part of the the THEM. When we receive His forgiveness, Repent or change our way of living, our spirit is born again. We receive His life and He begins His work in us, bringing us to fulness of the stature of Jesus, the realm of the Spirit. So then, He was rich (Spirit); became poor (creation under Adam’s curse); to deliver it/us from the curse and bring us to Spirit. He is doing His word IN US preparing US, bringing us to SPIRIT. Where I am, there ye may be also.
Darlene
This from Leslie………..
Okay, today’s transformational devotion is on a subject we all struggle with: Self Esteem! You’ve got to read this one!
One of the biggest issues that believers struggle with is self-esteem. One of the reasons, I believe, is because self-esteem is of the world and is something we try to implement into our lives that is foreign into our god-given souls that’s not of God. Self-esteem implies that we get our identity and worth from self and that which we are able to accomplish. But God has something much more intimate and special for His children – it’s called sanctification.
To be sanctified is to ‘be set apart for a special purpose’. The truth is, it is easy to believe that we are not sanctified based on the message the world delivers us. Everywhere we turn we are bombarded with commercials, billboards, magazines and television shows that remind us of where we fall short from the worlds perspective. In addition, thousands upon thousands of children are physically and sexually abused daily. Abortion clinics thrive. These, among other devastating facts of our world, claw at our identity one message at a time, tearing it down by telling us we’re disposable and worthless with every assault. But believers have the ability to turn away from these blatant lies and choose truth as their stronghold.
Romans 8:29 tells that God knew us and chose us to be His children before the earth was created. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that during this time He sanctified us. But what exactly did God set us apart to do? We are to become Christ-like, for the sacred purpose of turning from sin and being cleansed from moral corruption.
And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God,
to those who are called according to His purpose. For who He foreknew,
He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son,
that He might be the first born among many brethren
Moreover, who He predestined, these He also called,
these He also justified; and who He justified, He also glorified.
(Romans 8:28-30)
Everyone that God foreknew (meaning those He chose and knew before we were formed in our mother’s womb), He predestined. Predestined means He decided beforehand that we would be conformed, (meaning to come together in the likeness or image of His Son, Jesus). And those He predestined, He called, (meaning He named them). Those He called, He also justified, (meaning He declared them righteous). Those He justified, He also glorified, (meaning to give honor and praise). We all hope to hear the words found in Matthew 25:21, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant’ from our Father when we ascent to heaven. To hear these words is to receive His honor and praise.
Putting our faith in these truths will build our god-esteem, meaning of course, who we are in Christ Jesus, opposed to self-esteem which is built by our own accomplishments or lack thereof. Thus, it does not matter what the world says, but what God says is true. Knowing and believing this gives us not only faith in who we are, but what God’s will is for our lives and what we are capable of accomplishing through Him.
We are sanctified, and as such, we have the capability of having full confidence in who we are in this world without having to adapt to it. By choosing to reject the world’s standard of esteem and cling to God’s promises about who we are and His plans for us, we can walk in confidence, surety, and hope. Run to Him now in prayer and ask His forgiveness for believing the worlds lies about who you are and grasp on to who He says you are and learn to walk in your special identity that He ordained for you as His child.
We thank our Lord Jesus Christ for the Godly works of Karen, Shari, Darlene and Leslie! AMEN hallelujah
