Dear Family of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Good Morning and Merry Christmas!
This morning I start out with Psalm 77, The Counseling Memory of God’s Redemptive works. I would like you, before you drink of this CUP, to turn to Psalm 77 and read it. I used this scripture when I Preached Sunday and will use this scripture again this Lord’s day.
I pray that everyday I share this CUP with you, you have your Bible right by your side. AMEN!
This is daughter Gretchen with Glenda Copley of the Wildlife Refuge In Muleshoe, Texas where Gretchen worked this past summer. We visited the Refuge yesterday to wish all a Merry Christmas and thank them for their mentor ship to Gretchen. We also got to see Jude the Director. My encouragement to all is always show thanks to your mentors, stay connected to them. Parents make sure your kids are being guided by Godly people. It is our responsibility.
I am just like you and treasure the moments I have with the kids!
I am reading a book by Pastor Rick Taylor whose young son died in a drowning accident. The title of the book is “When Life is Changed Forever”
We as a nation keep having these events that change life in these United States forever and ever. My goodness this Country has not recovered at all from 9/11.
We are in a pattern of one tragedy after another and they are coming closer and closer together.
But we as a Country do not change, if anything we continue to go over the cliff.
As the church goes, the country goes.
We keep doing the same thing, the same pattern. A lot of talking!
I listened to a lot of it on NPR Radio on the way home last night from Texas. I heard the news on NBC Radio while we were in Portales, NM.
We are a nation of many words and no action.
We are repeating the same pattern again and again after a great tragedy.
Now we will have a great debate from the anti-gun people and the pro gun people.
After this debate, we will go back to the same.
The Lord showed me all this.
It has been years since this Country passed any meaningful legislation, years! And when this so called “Fiscal Cliff” which is a “Moral Cliff”, comes to pass and they approve a “nothing noise budget” we will go back to the same old financial madness.
There is no “normal” anymore….Normal is just a setting on the dryer.
listen to these words by Pastor Rick Taylor who I mentioned at the top of this write up, having lost his young son in a drowning accident, the Lord showed him to write a book about it.
Pastor Taylor writes…….
I used to look at “normalcy” as the equilibrium in my life, the thing that kept life stable and seemingly safe. Kyle’s death has helped me to set aside this fantasy and instead look to the Lord Himself, the Lord of life and love and hope and promise. I live now absolutely convinced that the Lord Himself is the only stability in life. And how secure He is; how secure and confident He makes me feel.
So there we go, As I have said for years, we need to keep our eye’s fixed on Jesus Christ. If We American’s want to be honest before our God we will admit we have failed to protect our children from abortion, child killers, sex offenders, etc. For many here in America including most of our Politicians, they still live in this fantasy world that THEY can fix all.
Now we are even talking about arming teachers with guns in our schools? really?
This so much disrupts my spirit, I am sick to my stomach at the thought, the thought that this is what we have become, teachers with guns, babies growing up with teachers with guns……
For all our debate, the many words….we have not changed much. It’s like we are a car that is stuck in a blizzard and we are just spinning the tires stuck in a snow bank and we gun the engine and we spin the tires again and again and we go nowhere and then we come near burning up the engine, and just maybe we have.
I guess the word’s of Pastor Taylor are to simple for this World we live in……read them again please.
We as a Country are looking in all the wrong places for answers.
The answer is being FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT! Seeking the Lord and His ways. Reading His word so that it becomes part of you and guides you at all times, even your words.
My goodness I listen to most of these Republicans and Democrats and, Lord have mercy, where do they get the words they speak?
As I travel, I get to meet real people, not politicians who have to say the ” correct political answer game of the day”……..yesterday I met a Mother in her late 80’s who had lost her son to gun fire in Portales, New Mexico in 1977. We had a Godly conversation about her son. I drove up to a service station in Melrose, NM as they were closing and asked a young man if he would help Gretchen who was driving with one headlight. Even thou they were closing and he needed to get home……..he took the time to fix the headlight at no cost! I wanted to pay him and he said, “Sir, we do this all the time to help people!” WOW! This young man’s name was Chase. He know’s God.
He knows our God teaches us to be servants. We drove for miles, out of our way, to get to Muleshoe, Texas and the Wildlife Refuge, but the Lord told me to go and show thanks to the folks there. Got to have a Godly conversation with Glenda there. And while we were traveling yesterday I got a message from Pastor Leonard Navarre who was letting me know about a refrigerator that was being given away to a needy family…..the Body of Christ working together!
Let us have no “self interest” but just the interest of our Lord, AMEN!
I bring all this up just to show all of us there are people operating everyday in the Lord. And that the Body of Christ need’s to be connected and serving and telling the story of our Lord Jesus Christ. We need to show love to each other, the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We need to bring God with us to the debates about the future of our Country, we need to be BOLD in doing so, otherwise we will remain the same and worse. Salt and light folks!
I have come to inflict the comfortable and comfort the inflicted!
Pastor Taylor wrote these words months and months after mourning the death of his young son……….
Death is a big deal; I take it seriously.
God has my attention; I take my relationship with Him seriously.
Death is not a friend; it is an enemy. I hate it passionately.
God has proved to be more than a friend. I love Him deeply.
Death has taught me how to cry.
My Father has engulfed me with His tender arms of compassion.
Death will come my way again.
My Father will see me through.
Death made me want to die with my son.
God has given me life beyond my wildest dreams.
Death has tried to change my mind about God.
God has changed my life forever. I am blessed.
AMEN! POWERFUL words from Pastor Rick Taylor for you and I this day.
Hebrews 12:2-3 (MSG) “Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed-that exhilarating finish in and with God-he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” Ras Robinson
God loves life, not death
“If you haven’t met opposition from Satan recently, you’re probably going his way.” – C.S. Lewis”

RAVI ZACHARIAS ON THE TRAGEDY AT NEWTOWN
“The Bible only speaks of one remedy for this: the transformation of the heart by making Christ the center. Those who mock the simplicity of the remedy have made evil more complex and unexplainable. Every heart has the potential for murder. Every heart needs a redeemer. That is the message of Christmas. The world took that child and crucified Him. But by his triumph over death He brings life to our dead souls and begins the transformation within. Unto us a child is born and He shall save us from our sins.”
