Dear KKIM/KARS Family,
We have this urgent prayer need below………
just a note:
This morning I was out doing lawn work…what a beautiful morning here in New Mexico a bit cooler and some light rain over night.
It is such a wonderful feeling to put our confidence in our Lord and not ourselves….so much freedom and peace and strength and wisdom……
Also do not be of this world………
The Lord was really showing me that this morning………Put our confidence in our Lord and do not be of this world……….
Dear Friends,
Tomorrow, a referendum will be held in Kyrgyzstan to create the first parliamentary democracy in the region of Central Asia. This is where all the violence has been occurring between the Kyrgyz and Uzbek peoples over the past couple of weeks. Thousands have been killed and whole neighborhoods burned. Hundreds of thousands of Uzbeks became refugees, seeking to flee the violence which was most likely perpetrated by supporters of the ousted former president. This is a very crucial time for us to pray for Kyrgyzstan! There is still a lot of tension, and there could be provocative acts that would further destabilize the nation. The turmoil could spread to other parts of the region.
1 Please pray for the interim leader, Roza Ofunbayeva, other authorities, and the military that they will be able to keep order and restore harmony.
2 Pray that they will be evenhanded and not allow further violence against the Uzbek minority and that any attempts to disrupt the election or cause other trouble between these people groups will be prevented.
3 Finally, we should pray for this crisis to serve God’s purpose of bringing many Uzbeks and Kyrgyz to the knowledge of Christ and that there will be a new receptivity to the Gospel and a rapid growth of the number of believers and churches in this predominantly Muslim area of the world.
The Refugee Highway Partnership and the World Evangelical Alliance ask us to pray for refugees during the coming week:
“Refugee Sunday is a unique opportunity to pray and support the refugees. This year the two consecutive Sundays in June 20 or 27 – 2010 to be celebrated by the Refugee Highway Partnership in cooperation with the World Evangelical Alliance to raise awareness for~ the situation of refugees and internally displaced peoples around the world.
Refugees are the people forced to flee their country because they have been persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership of a particular social group. Today, every second there are people fleeing from their homes and cities seeking safe havens. Around the world, more than 42 million people have no place to call home. Persecution and terror have forced these refugees and internally displaced persons to flee, leaving everything behind. They have lost family members, friends, possessions and the familiar places of their homeland.
Pray for:
1 The basic human needs and rights of displaced people
2 Those in power that they may show concern and respect
3 Those who work and minister in very difficult conditions
4 Grief and loss to be turned to joy
“The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself…”~ Leviticus 19:34
